{{Name}}{{Under construction}}'''Cartoon Characters''' is the name given by the community for the animated versions of the cast of each series. These were created as early as [[Hi-5 (Season 1)|Season 1]] of the [[Hi-5 Australia|original series]], as the need for easily identifiable and replicable versions of the live-action cast were needed not only for merchandising but for branding purposes too.

These designs varied between eras of the [[Hi-5 Australia|original show]] and it's [[International adaptations|adaptations]], and were seen mostly featured on both the
[[Hi-5 Theme|theme song animations]] of each series as well as merchandising and other applications.

=Timeline=
The first cartoon characters to make an appearance were the ones seen in the [[Hi-5 (Season 1)|Season 1]] [[Hi-5 Theme|theme song animation]], illustrated by Eddie Mort from Fudge Puppy Productions, and depicted the original cast in 2D.

Different cartoons were seen in merch at the time, not fully matching the designs of those seen in the first two theme song animations of the show.

Starting from [[Hi-5 (Season 3)|Season 3]], a new artist, ''Bort. Q. Rockefeller'' <small>(artistic name)</small> was brought in into the team<ref>https://www.bortq.com/illustration</ref>, which re-designed the 2D versions of the cast; these new versions weren't just seen on merch, but were also seen reproduced in 3D in the [[Hi-5 Theme|theme song]], since the launch of [[Hi-5 (Season 4)|Season 4]].

''Bort'' was also responsible for the character designs in both seasons of the [[Hi-5 USA|American adaptation of the show]].

With [[Sun Pezzimenti|Sun]]'s arrival to the cast in 2006 as a replacement of [[Kathleen de Leon Jones|Kathleen]], a new design to reflect her appearance was supposed to debut alongside the rest of the cast in [[Hi-5 (Season 9)|Season 9]], however, marketing executives at the time advised to keep [[Kathleen de Leon Jones|Kathleen]]'s original design in favor of a more accurate one.

In Season 10, ''Bort'', now under the Australian design studio ''Studio Bauhaus'' redesigned the cast once again, giving the strokes a lighter feel and making the designs feel more fluid and expressive; this was the last season in which ''Bort'' worked on.

After the branding reset that came with the replacement of most of the cast in 2009, the new cartoon designs for [[Hi-5 (Season 11)|Season 11]] were instead commissioned to [[Southern Star|Southern Star Singapore]]<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wCJA1EOkQA</ref>, where the original design philosophy was reworked into a more soft and preschool appealing look. These new designs were virtually only seen in 3D, and although 2D versions were seen in some events, merch, and the official show's website, these are only traced from the 3D models and are not original 2D art per se. Another key difference with previous designs is that only one version of them was produced, with no outfit specific versions for certain [[Song of the week|Songs of the week]] or events made.

Now under the [[Hi-5 House]] brand, new 3D designs were made for the [[Hi-5 Theme|theme song]] by Infinite Frameworks and [[Tremendous|Tremendousness]]<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KZn9X-KC1I</ref>, and while somewhat resembling those made in 2009, these received a more human feel and proportions. For [[Hi-5 House (Season 2)|Season 2]] of the [[Hi-5 House|House]] series, [[Lauren Brant|Lauren]]'s design was narrowly adjusted to fit [[Tanika Anderson|Tanika]]'s design better.

During the last years of [[Hi-5 House]], new 2D designs began to be observed at live events of the cast, these new designs were the base for those seen in [[Hi-5 (Season 17)|Season 17]]'s [[Hi-5 Theme|theme song]]<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEoDXLyC4_k</ref> and merchandising, which turned it into the first season since [[Hi-5 (Season 3)|Season 3]] to not feature 3D models of the cast in any shape or form on any applications; it also has the first [[Hi-5 Theme|theme song animation]] to feature 2D designs of the cast after [[Hi-5 USA (Season 2)|Season 2]] of [[Hi-5 USA]].

Curtis' first performing job was as an emcee for the Nickelodeon show at Kings Island. After college, he made his Broadway debut in Rent. From there, he went on to play such roles as Doody from Grease, Dickon from The Secret Garden, and one of the Von Trapp family from The Sound of Music.

In September 2002, he joined the American version of the children's music group/television show Hi-5. Shaun graduated from the University of Delaware. It was there he sang for an a cappella group called the "University of Delaware & Chromes." He was also the vice president of the university's ''World Peace Club'' and was an honors student. He had vocal training from Shirley Callaway. After college, he joined the New York Public Theater, where he performed Shakespeare. He also joined the Harrington Theater Arts Company and appeared on ''All My Children'' many times. He also appeared as Romeo in Shakespeare's ''Romeo and Juliet'' at the McCarter Theater.

In September 2002, Shaun was cast in the children's show ''Hi-5'', the American counterpart to the Australian kids' show Hi-5. Karla Cheatham Mosley was born and raised in Westchester, New York. She graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, with honors, and went on to study in France at the Roy Hart Vocal Institute.

At a young age, she performed in "Sugar Beats", a children's rock group, where she sang such hits as "Rockin' Robin".

Karla is in a family with a sister and two cats.

In 2008, she starred with Lenelle Moise in "Expatriate," a gritty off-Broadway show at the Culture Project. Her performance earned rave reviews from the New York Times, Time Out New York, and Variety, which wrote, "Mosley's voice is a serious discovery, with remarkable phrasing and range. In a torchy number called "The Makings," about how Alpine's life has given her the makings of a jazz legend, her pure high notes descend to earthy growls in a flash, and you've got to believe her when she sings, "Anything I wail/hits ears like honey."

In 2008 she also nabbed parts in ''Law & Order'' and ''Gossip Girl'' and appeared in ''Museum Pieces'' at the West End Theater in New York City.

In 2013, five years after the group split up, she participated in the cast of "The Bold and the Beautiful" as the ex-con turned actress Maya Avant. She completed a website series titled "Room 8 The Series" with her co-star from "The Bold and the Beautiful," Lawrence Saint-Victor. The web series was part of the B&B storyline. Her character has recently been revealed to be a transgender woman.

On November 18, 2014, she appeared as a guest model on "The Price Is Right".

She appeared in the 6th episode of ''Battle Creek'' on April 5, 2015, titled "Cereal Killer".

In 2015 Karla's character became the first transgender bride to be married on daytime television when she married Rick Forrester (played by Jacob Young). In 2007, she appeared in the musical production of ''Dreamgirls'' at the TUTS Theater in Houston, TX.
