Shaun Taylor-Corbett
Shaun Michael Taylor-Corbett (born October 6, 1978) is an American actor, singer, and writer and is the son of choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett and music executive Michael Corbett. He was an original Karla Cheatham Mosley
member of the Emmy Award nominated children's musical group Hi-5 from 2002 to 2006 and left four years with group. He left the group in 2006 along with Karla Cheatham Mosley and was replaced by Sydney James.
Biography
Early life
Shaun graduated from the University of Delaware. It was there he sang for an a cappella group called the "University of Delaware & Chromes." He was also the vice president of the university's World Peace Club and was an honors student. He had vocal training from Shirley Callaway. After college, he joined the New York Public Theater, where he performed Shakespeare. He also joined the Harrington Theater Arts Company and appeared on All My Children many times. He also appeared as Romeo in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the McCarter Theater.
Hi-5 (2002-2006)
In September 2002, Shaun was cast in the children's show Hi-5, the American counterpart to the Australian kids' show Hi-5. Just like with his Australian counterpart, Nathan Foley, his segment is Shapes in Space, in which he encourages kids to discover shapes. This segment teaches children to visual and spatial awareness, exploring shapes, colour and texture in everyday materials, including coloured boxes, balls, and play-dough.
In 2006, Shaun along side Karla, left the group in order to pursue other interests and he was eventually replaced by Sydney James.
After Hi-5
He played Juan in the hit Off-Broadway musical Altar Boyz from July 3, 2006, to May 6, 2007. He is currently appearing on Broadway in "In the Heights."
